Not as common as lumbar stenosis in the lower back or cervical stenosis in the neck, thoracic spinal stenosis is a rare degenerative condition in which the spinal canal in the upper/middle back is narrowed. Common treatment programs include chiropractic care, physical therapy and exercise, activity modification, and the use of anti-inflammatory medications – either orally or through injections. Patients suffering from disabling pain or physical limitations may consider surgery.
